Thoughts of Festivals are in the Air

And I was delighted to be invited to check out the SS collection from Muck boots at the fabulous Boundary Rooftop.. I never knew wellies could be so cool! With everything from plain black- perfect for horse riding, through to mum and kids matching co-ordinates, to ankle, mid and full length for both men and women. I went the whole hog and picked a pair of pink check knee highs. Well I need to let people know I’m coming! Roll on The Secret Garden Party.

Nana Fink Jewellery is One To Watch

A relative newbie in the jewellery arena, I was lucky enough to join Nana Fink, who had flown over from her home in Basel, for an intimate lunch at Home House last week. Hailing from Switzerland, mostly known for watches, this talented mum is not officially trained in jewellery, but comes from an artisan background, and had a calling. Her lion collection is breathtaking and is definitely something that will hit the radar of fine jewellery fans. My personal fave was the lion-head ring with green diamonds (if anyone is interested!) – which she also thinks would be perfect on Cara Delevigne… What good taste I have!

If you are a fan of unusual, handmade jewellery, Nana Fink is the name to check. You can also check her out at the Paul Smith flagship store in Mayfair. You won’t be disappointed.

Pleasure and Pain: The Shoe Show you can’t miss

The V&A have done it again. This time, their fashion curators have worked with Clarks and shoe design college Cordwainers to create a history of shoes from around the globe.

It’s the perfect exhibition for anybody who has bought a pair of shoes just because they like them! Showcasing more than 200 pairs, from the luxurious to the impractical. Using designers including Louboutin, Jimmy Choo and Prada, the shoes are beautiful, sometimes impractical, but often with the best memories. I am delighted to see that Sargossa shoes made the cut; A new designer who makes high heels comfortable is a new name on the scene, and definitely on my radar ??

And if you want to set your TV to record for September I was interviewed by a Danish TV show on shoes… Watch this space!

Check them out here

I’m spoilt for choice with my watches!

Big thanks to Timex for my beautiful silver analogue watch which arrived this week. No excuses for me now!

London Collections Men and Shoot for Nutopia..

?It was all about the men at London Collections: Men

When I say busy, I mean BUSY! My last couple of weeks have been hectic!! Don’t get me wrong, I love catwalk shows, and I love menswear- I shoot alot of it, and the designers are getting better and better. but getting booked for a commercial the day it finished meant alot of juggling over the four day event!

I was also asked to do my usual show reports for Beige magazine, so I didn’t play quite as much as some of my fashion family! Early starts and late nights in front of the laptop for me.

Amazon: Fashion TV

My commercial job for Nutopia meant I had to track down a selection of fedoras and high end sports luxe… No mean feat when I had two days to prep. However I pulled it out of the bag thanks to some of my lovely PR’s and going slightly over on my shopping budget! Thank goodness for my trusty tagging gun! Ignoring my 6.30 Addison Lee pick up time, the shoot was amaze! Words cannot describe the location house in Battersea. Apart from WOW. I’m sure the owners must be in the art world with the amount of original art pieces on the wall. A three storey power house in a converted school. It’s no wonder the children could have a whole floor to themselves!!! Sometimes I think I’m in the wrong biz ??

However, bringing my styling brain back to menswear, I did manage to squeeze in a couple of very memorable shows- with jungle and tropical prints making a welcome entrance at YMC and Richard James. Rock n Roll is still alive and kicking, and I had one of my best nights ever at an intimate gig for Pretty Green, hosted by the one and only legendary DJ Noram Jay. SS16 spells Hawaiian prints and turns ups, if you’re that kinda guy!

Christopher Shannon had a foam party, complete with boys in bikinis (as an accessory I hasten to add!!) and Elaine Constantine’s fab film Northern Soul, was the inspiration for Topman Design. Wide trousers and back splits are the way forward.

Something for every taste- fashion is fun for boys!

Jo Birchall: singer and almost superstar

Comments Off on Jo Birchall: singer and almost superstar fashion, my words, Stylist, womenswear styling

Super Styling

This week I styled Pop Princess Jo Birchall for her press shots.

And what a Pop-ette she was! Singing a mixture of pop-folk, she has already been ear-maked by Graham Norton and hit the Radio 2 playlist.

One to watch.. I highly recommend a listen too.

Stop the press! Trendstop’s key trends for AW15

Comments Off on Stop the press! Trendstop’s key trends for AW15 fashion, menswear fashion styling, my words, news, style, Stylist, womenswear styling

As fashion friends of mine, I thought it was only fair to share the up and coming trends from ‘Those in the Know’ at Trendstop, who have beeen scouring the fashion capitals of Milan, Paris, New York and London, and have been busy papping the hipsters at the fashion capitals around the globe.

These are the four key trends from those on the street for AW15…

The longer short is every girls friend (unless you have short legs!)
But wear with heels and keep preppy to avoid looking like a nineties rap artist!d0be56a0c152904e

Cartoon Mania
Stil in vogue are pastels, playful prints and knee high socks.
It seems you can act your shoe size, not your age! If you dare.14315b096baa33bb

Double denim for the men
Ask any man, and I bet he will say denim is his fail safe look.. So put his fave jeans with a matched (or mismatched) jacket and he’ll be so in vogue without even knowing it!
Well I always did suspect David Beckham was ahead of the game back in 99! (Matching denim outfits with your girlfriend at this point is discouraged).trendstop2f8198906a14

Perspex accessories
This is the season to show what you’ve got! See thru clutches, shoes and jewellery are going to massive!
Boxy shaped handbags which show off the contents are a must, along with space age anything and clean simple lines. Frou frou is out, simple is in.6cf1124773312134
Here’s to the future.
2015 is already looking dazzling!

First fashion shoot for 55 in the bag

Comments Off on First fashion shoot for 55 in the bag 55Factory

One might imagine that shooting Autumn Winter fashion at the end of May would be a breeze…? The models would be happy to be on a location in the sun and the photographer would be happy with the light.

Alas the weather gods were not playing nice with us last week on our first fashion shoot for issue 9!!!

Rain, hail and clouds made an entrance for most of the morning which delayed our start somewhat! But our hardcore team and AMAZING models worked their magic even under the inclement conditions!

Shooting on location is always a gamble, but thankfully the grey skies were perfect for our apocalyptic fashion shoot. Tommy the 55 pooch was quite enjoying the great outdoors, even if all out teeth were chattering!!
But the flesh revealing numbers meant that I had to have lots of cuddles with the models to get rid of their goosebumps! One of the stylist’s privileges ??

Issue none of 55Pages is out in September.. Watch this space! And here’s a sneaky peek.
